Post subject:  FFVII Help.....
Ok, I am at the point were I am on the world map. Went to the town, did the whole past history thing, and now I don't know what to do.

I Went East looking for man in black. Found the Chocobo farm, caught one and went across marsh. Saw the dead giant snake thing....now, I am at a loss. I have gone everywhere it will let me, and cannot seem to find the next step....a hint please? I don't want to do a walkthrough, but would like a point in right direction.

You should be able to continue through a cave near the dead snake thing.

I guess then I should have got off the chocobo....cuz it shot me back out of the scene and I was still on the bird....thanks!!

What Orrah said.

I recommend levelling up a little bit, grabbing an Elemental materia (blue one), an Enemy Skill materia (yellow) and a Fire materia (green). Put Elemental and Fire in a linked slot on your armour, and the Enemy Skill anywhere on the same character. Fight the big snake in the swamp (you'll see its shadow in the water). Stay alive as long as you can until it casts BETA. If you survive, run the fuck out of there. You will have learned one of the most powerful spells of the first two discs a damn sight earlier than you should. :yes:

Where do I get these materia??? Also, I have already gone through the mine and into the next area....

Generally speaking, you tend to find Blue (Modifier) and Yellow (Skill) materia laying around the place, as opposed to buy them. I think the first time you can buy a blue one is probably All, in Kalm, or Juno.

Speaking of which, your next stop is either Fort Condor, or Juno itself. Do some grinding as well, as in the forest, you can learn White Wind, which takes a trick to learn. Get the Manipulate (Yellow) materia, and control the huge guy that casts it. Cast it on the party, et voila, you've got one of the nicest healing spells for a while. It works by healing the entire party for an amount equal to the caster's current health pool. Awesome for quick healing people who've died, until you get Life-2/FullLife.
