3. Simple maths here. Lets assume you already own a PS3, seeing as the chioce is GOWC or the original stuff...

Buying "God Of War Collection" for your PS3 = £29.99

Buying a PS2 (cos no early PS2s work, right?), God Of War 1 and God Of War 2 = £59.99 + £19.99 + £19.99 (all preowned) = £99.97

You're assuming people don't own a PS2 but own a PS3, I know tonnes of people with only PS2's. Using a comparison of money without including the £200 for owning the PS3 is just selecting only values that suit your views.

Give me one reason why anyone who doesn't own a PS3 would find themselves torn between the HD remakes and the originals?

Just one. One reason why a non-PS3-owning person would say "Now which one do I buy...?".

Only a fucking moron would pay maximum money when theres a much cheaper option available.

HD remakes are only pointless if you still own the original machine, which it sounds like you still do. So you're obviously gonna be biased.

However, theres plenty of people who never owned a PS2 but now own a PS3, and HD remakes are ideal for those who missed out.

The world of videogames wasn't made just for you, sir. And the moment you get that into your head, the better.

Collectors would still go for it, but then again, if all you want to do for the next few years is just replay sequels and remakes, just keep going, it's going to be the new annoying norm outside of paid DLC.

And yes I own a PS2 still, along with a Commodore 64 of other things, so maybe I posses things too much when I own something with 64kb of RAM.

And common, you guys need to lighten up on persecuting myself individually, if you really disagree with me this much just say, I don't care, but the constant crap of me being an Elitist etc is just annoying now. Just because I do not agree with your opinions doesn't justify the level of dickishness I'm forced to swallow (intended).

Whatever I'm done.

I've given up on you being elitist, cos I just like being the Yin to your Yang.

I too own a C64 (two, in fact), as well as a PS2 and a PS3, and I still own both versions of God Of War and God Of War II, but then like you said, I'm a collector, so I do shit like that.

Also, "if all you wanna do is spend the next few years playing remakes"... name one game in the last two years that hasn't been a remake/rehash/reimagining/sequel.

Seriously, legitimately name one single game that can't be held up next to any other game ever made as a comparison, and I'll mail you a crisp £10 note from my own funds.

Go.

The only way I could credit myself as an elitist is because my knowledge always seems to be more compared to most people in terms of gaming, I mean one prime example is the amount of people I know who've played Fallout 3 for example but don't even know Fallout 1 wasn't done by Bethesda, or that it played nothing like F3. It's that environment I find myself in where I get questions like "What's Steam?" and "PS3's have more GPU's than a 360" that make me feel far superior in terms of gaming because I know what I'm talking about.

There are plenty of games I could list, but I'll assume you want credible games that weren't just made on Game Maker.
Magicka, without a doubt.
Super Meat Boy?
Amnesia?
Batman AA?
Bulletstorm? *trollface*

Yes they are all thrown into a genre or two, but none of them are sequels, spiritual sequels, remakes, or any other nonsense, you said it yourself Bulletstorm has been one of the few games that was uniquely fun, it couldn't have been that fun if every other FPS is similar.

And if I could name a game that couldn't be compared to anything else, I'd want more than £10, the industry is built upon expanding on ideas that have made lots of money before in the past, not on "is this daring enough". Developers are too much pussies/greedy to make anything else.

Magicka, without a doubt.
Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles (seriously, get 2 or more players together as mages and combine your spellsto see what I mean)
Super Meat Boy?
Plays like "N"
Amnesia?
Looks like Oblivion, plays like Penumbra.
Batman AA?
A damn good game, but we've had any number of third person action adventure games in the last two years.
Bulletstorm? *trollface*
Wild 9 on PS1 - Youtube it and tell me that guy doesn't have the first ever leash, trollface or no.

Nice choice of games though. All good (especially the last one). ;)

Man I really hope neither of you ever get tired of back-and-forthing like this, I love reading your debates. You guys have a great dynamic, I'd watch the Blokey and Smiler Talkshow: Starring Blokey and Smiler.

It is very entertaining... This heated debate shit truly interests me, even though I don't own a PS3.

*start arguement*

HD remakes are ok in my book.

*end arguement*

See, thing is, and I said this already via PM, when Al backs his shit up, he has some very convincing arguments that are extremely hard to argue against. He's like Yahtzee, but Al does it cos he believes it, not cos he gets paid to.

If there was more topics that we had differing thoughts on, I'd think about doing a monthly feature on it. :D

As you guys know I play the PS2 from time to time but I would prefer having an HD remake of a game. Especially for FFX and FFX-2. You see playing the original PS2 games is great but playing the PS2 on an HD LCDTV is crappy. I'm a graphics fag as you all know and I like to have my games look sexy. With an HD remake of a PS2 game I can have that good sexy look and have the right resolution on my TV.

Haha thanks, there's always that possibility.

Magicka isn't a RPG though (I assume that version of FF is a RPG, far as I know).

Suppose you're right about SMP

Amnesia, interesting perception, never thought of it like Oblivion.

Batman has a lot more going for it though. Like I'M THE GOD DAMN BATMAN.

Good points though, it really is hard to say any game is that unique, there are some real unique indie games on the PC market, but they still could be called RPG's/Puzzles etc.

I was playing "Flower" last night, and I thought "FUCK I AM SO GLAD SMILER DIDN'T NAME THIS!", cos lets face it, Flower is the ONLY never-been-done-before-at-all game I can think of.

Holy shit, I forgot about that.

Yeah, Flower. No doubt.

FWIW, the BC in the early PS3s was really good, because it was hardware emulation, not software. After being stripped out to cut production costs, they have done some software emulation support. But software emulation is spotty at best. It was on the PS2, it is on the 360 and it will continue to be on systems that use it going a forward

In Europe, I don't think any hardware emulated PS3s made it over, even at launch. Their launch was a few months after the North American and Japanese launches, and shortly after the European launch, we got the software emulated PS3s.

More or less, a clusterfuck of models

Oh yes we did, I myself had the original 60GB version on release day, (holy shit, THIS day actually, 4 years ago)!
