Update: If you want to get HD quality media, that's possible, but your network might not be fast enough. I discovered my network is fast enough for some HD vids, but others don't work.

The setting to change is the maximum video resolution. 1360x720 is 720p HD.

I'll add that to the front page article when my manager moves away from her desk. :D

This worked perfectly before, but after Im formatted my pc, and change its name, the 360 doesn't find my pc. I think I need to delete some settings in the 360, maybe?

edit: It still works with my ps3.

Did you turn off the firewall? Since this is UPnP, it should work unless there's something else that's causing trouble, like a faulty firewall.

I did. It kinda seems like it remembers my old computer, and is still "connected" to that one (that doesn't exist). I think I need to format my HDD, or erase some settings. I am not sure what to do.

Currently I use my pc to stream to my ps3 but I was not satisfied with the performance ( some films work some don't and some times it takes long for a movie to start) I converted all my HD movies from mkv to mpg's using some ps3 converting type software a friend gave me, then I loaded them on to a HDD and plugged it into the ps3 directly.... FAIL.
:?: The files are to big for the HDD (BTW its a western digital MyNotebook 500gb) oh... ok.. NP I'll reformat the HDD to NTFS no problem... FAIL PS3 don't read NTFS HDD's......WHAT... :shoot: What kind of crap is that. So now today I run into this article sounds like it should work but my problem is my friend tells me all the movies I converted ( Like half my library stupid me I should have done test first) won't play on the xbox 360 cuz they were converted for the ps3.... well that SUX. So now that I'm done with my rant my question is with this software can I still use the converted files ( they play on the pc but I don't have sound but on the ps3 I get sound) and does the xbox 360 read MKV's. OH also All my movies are 1080p is that going to be a problem.

Easiest way ever:

On your PC: iTunes > Edit > Preferences > Sharing > Share my library on my local network
(you can specify what type of media to share, from pictures to movies)

On your 360: My Xbox > Picture Library / Video Library / Music Library > Select your PC as the media device > Wait for it to load everything, took 10-15 minutes with me due to my library being massive.

wow....that seems like a lot to do to stream.

for the ps3, even using tversity, all I had to do was install and go to ps3 and click on tversity icon.

same for ps3media server. install, go to ps3 and done. also, ps3media server does mkv files, which tverserity doesn't...at least didn;t when I used it.

This is an extremely basic guide. If you look at it, you'll see that I cover like every click =)

Yup. I remember writing my guide - had to include everything so no questions needed asking.
