So I took the plunge and got myself an Xbox One which should be arriving tomorrow with the Master Chief collection. I'm quite excited as I've only played Halo 4 and that was just the multiplayer.

Anybody else buying this and will be around tomorrow for a couple of games?

Ignore my Lucarse22 XBL account. I managed to get Microsoft support to give me the details to my old MatthewSFC account so I will be using that. 0 Gamerscore :(.

I got this bundle which I thought was a pretty good deal. I'll be trading COD in as I've already got it on PS4 most likely for Forza Horizon 2.

Why is downloading/installing games so slow? In the time it's taken the Halo update to get to 3% I've downloaded the PS4 system update and a COD update.

Also the controller is nice but feels very cheap which is disappointing.

Disc version? You're installing 40+GB and downloading an additional 20+GB. Methinks those other updates aren't nearly that beefy. I preordered/installed digitally, so it was background most of the time. Didn't take too long for me, and my internet is nothing special.

I had no issues with campaigns, but I haven't tried MP yet. Everyone's so stoked for Halo 2 MP, but it was by far my least favorite of the series, so I'm in no rush.

I seem to recall both Knack and Killzone installed 50+ gig in less than a few minutes.

That was from disc, mind. Downloads are purely dependent on your connection, it seems.

Yeah I'm using the disc version. The PS4 installs from the disc extremely quick, which is why having to wait so long annoyed me. I'm sure even the 360 and PS3 were quicker. Download speeds are also slow, Forza (Digital Version) just refused to download after it got to 3%. Despite having good download speeds on PC and PS4. Hopefully they download while I'm at work today.

Downloading is fine in my experience. Entirely depends on internet, and I have very good internet. Installs could certainly be a bit faster, but the comparison you make isn't entirely fair as the PS4 system update last night was less than 200MB, which is probably waaaay smaller than what you're doing on the Xbox One. A typical Xbox One update takes less time than the PS4 from what I've found.

FWIW, Phil Spencer has said they are looking at ways to speed up install times. Interestingly though, I find it's hit and miss. Some games, even large ones, installed from disk are fast, and some small ones from the same medium take waay longer than you'd expect them to. I can't explain it.

Still sucks that game installs are a thing on consoles, but they aren't going anywhere unfortunately.

I find disc based installs take about ten minutes for me, perhaps a little more with for the bigger games. But yeah they take longer than I would expect. Doesnt bother me too much though.

Yeah that was a bit of an unfair comparison.

I've just been into town on my lunch break and traded in Advanced Warfare which came with the bundle, ended up using it for credit and getting the Kinect for £17, Horizon 2 will have to wait.
