At one time ZoneAlarm had one of the best firewalls around, but it was annoying as FUCK.

Got rid of it. It took about 2 hours to be able to unistall it, it was refusing too.

combine AVG with Malwarebytes and you have yourself a heavily protected system

they are both free which is nice too.
