...How would an online Zelda Four Swords work?

lolwut

Also, Zelda doesn't need online.
Zelda doesn't need multi player.
Not every game needs online multi-player.
ZELDA DOESN'T NEED ONLINE MULTIPLAYER. :|

Seriously though, four swords was cool, but I think that a game like that is much more fun when you're with everybody.
I mean, how easy would it be if you had one guy run through a temple, while another runs through the next, and the other guy's chillin' out in Kakariko, while the last guy is dicking around in Lake Hylia.

I think it's much better if everyone stays in the same general area, and I think constraints on travel in an online game are ridiculous...

Besides, it's more fun to be able to beat the shit out of those who do something wrong (or moving out of the way of angry people who just got tossed off a cliff) --- As proven by New Super Mario Bros Wii.

If it forced all characters to stay in the same area like FF:CC, then it'd work, and it'd be awesome.

That is why I said online. Because who these days goes to friends houses to play video games?

I've heard speculation that the new Zelda, Skyward Sword is being pushed back so it'll be a launch title for the new console.

I've also heard that this might not actually be a direct successor to the Wii, but rather a divergent path that Nintendo will open up. By that, I mean that this new system (and any successors it had) would be the "hardcore" system, with top of the line visuals, conventional controls, and all that, while the Wii and its direct successors would push the traditional boundaries, such as looking into 3D for home consoles and other such things.

It's certainly something to think about.

While the Skyward Sword thing makes sense (hell, I made the point as soon as I heard about the rumours, see the first post in the other thread), but when you think about it, that game is incredibly dependent on the fidelity of Wii Motion Plus when using the sword, and if the controller is really like that, I can't imagine that working too well with this other controller.

Oh god, it's Sega all over again.

...but this means that eventually Nintendo will make a Dreamcast!

^

Joe, I imagine that Skyward Sword's release would be a dual-console release like Twilight Princess was. I just hope that version isn't just a shoddy port of the other.

Sam Kennedy (Boss of 1up.com) has seen/heard about it.
apparently, it's "not about the controller, and HD is a given, but Nintendo's focus is something else."

Calling it now: Nintendo introduced casual to the market. it showed was appealing to the casuals could do, showed how many consoles it could move, how much money it could make. This got Microsoft, and even Sony to an extent, to dumb down their lineups and spend money on developing/producing Casualtech®. Then, and only then, after all of this Casualtech® was revealed, Nintendo announces their next console.

Nintendo threw away this entire generation to the casuals just to dumb down the opposition, and with their newest console, return as the Hardcore King, causing the entire hardcore crowd to jump ship and join back with Nintendo. This was their plan the entire time.

...It's more likely than holograms, anyway. :(

they're still really bad at online services so capturing that call of duty/halo/battlefield crowd will be hard.
