I'm not sure what I think about this.

I mean, I think that as far as reboots go, this is possibly the most daring attempt of anything I have ever seen. For me, while I enjoy the old black and white Karloff movies, the definitive, ultimate Frankenstein movie was the 1994 adaptation with Kenneth Brannagh and, surprisingly, De Niro as the monster, and he was fucking amazing. The whole movie was amazing. If you haven't seen it, you're doing yourself a massive disservice by not watching it.

Frankie films end with his death, and for someone to go "Hey, lets make a movie about what happens to him after all those fuckers with pitchforks have gone" I think is both pure genius and far overdue.

But thoughts on the whole "fighting the supernatural" thing?

INB4 "supernatural enemies are unrealistic". Frankie is 200 years old and made up of the leftover parts of Michael Jackson and Cher. Realism is NOT an issue in Frankie films.

This has fantastic potential. I hope we get a saga out of it.

If you guys are into Frankenstein fighting otherworldly baddies and super powered monsters, you should read Frankenstein: Agent of SHADE.

It is a 16 issue run part of the DC Comics continuity. After issue 16, he crosses over other comics like Animal Man, Swamp Thing Justice League Dark and even has connections with Green Lantern. Shit is tight dawg.

But on topic, this looks tight as fuck. Looks like a cross between Underworld and Blade.

Was gonna say underworld… then the trailer did.
So the monster takes the Drs name? Or the Dr makes himself a monster? Or the 'Frankenstein must be destroyed' refers to killing the Dr so more aren't created? - Don't know if this comes from a fiction i am unaware of.

Considering that Dr Frankenstein was for all intents and purposes the "father" of the monster, it's only right he took the "family" name.

Also, there's a quick peek of a book with a big "F" on the front, with diagrams of the monster's creation, so I think you're just being a big brainy know-all pedant smellybum buzzkill. :P

(but yes, the whole "frankenstein = the monster" thing most people say irks the piss out of me too)

Has anyone ever read the source material? Both the Dr and the monster were called "Frankenstein". He took his maker's name.

This looks to have nothing to do with Frankenstein, as Carl said it's just dropped the "F" word in it. It's like comparing Stephanie Myers to Bram Stoker. It's so disconnected it's barely the same thing.

Film doesn't look like my cuppa. the '94 Movie is one of my all time drama/horror favourites, though.

It's 200 years after his creation, and he's been kinda living off-grid, so yes, it isn't anything to do with the source material as it's 200 years later, but still, as a reboot, it has a certain summink.

Also, loving the love for the Brannagh version. Love it.
