Meh, people are whiners. That's not to say I'm not happy to take the offline mode, but the online requirement really isn't a big deal. People got their panties all in a bunch because Maxis underestimated the launch server load and had all kinds of problems because of it. This game has been very stable since that point, and they've been constantly updating it with more stuff.

To me, terra-forming and bigger cities have always been a bigger issue than whether or not I can play offline.

That said, if Maxis doesn't do it, hopefully the mod community can.

might because i'm a sadist but i really wouldn't consider the game broken, i find it easy to 120,000 residents with and 80% approval rating quite easily
