Street Fighter II

Yea, multiplayer games have been around. But SF II put all other games to shame. Competitiveness is where its at, and SF creating the fighting game scene.

The first ever game was multiplayer. And Street Fighter 2 was just a refinement, and mixing of formulas. Its one of my favorite games, but I can't place it as most important when put against THE game that made gaming seem like it could be a serious business, essentially starting the industry.

I live in the US, and Street Fighter II didn't stop the death of coin-op gaming here.

Also, they called carpal tunnel syndrome "Space Invaders Wrist"

Street Fighter wishes it was cool enough to have pain named after it.
