All I can hear on this thread is "PS3 is getting this" or "360 will be getting"....actually I didn't hear the latter but regardless.

You're not buying an investment, you're buying a games console.

Both consoles I own and love. I love one a little bit more than the other.

The Playstation 3 has a Blu-Ray player, instantly rechargable pads and Little Big Planet. Love it. It's a little bit slow, a bit broken, sometimes gay to be able to do something simple, however, it's got some great features, and will love you if you love it. It has some trophies (which are a bit weird but whatever), ingame chat to mates, BBC I Player and it can handle more media than a 360 or Wii (definately the Wii). The pads suck a bit but we've been used to that since the first playstation, and sometimes is lacks new decent games at the shop (but that's nit picking, as it has some belters aswel).

The 360 is immediately fantastic. Right up until the point that it creeps into your bed while you're at work, shits on it, crawls back into the living room under the TV, and then...well....keels over and dies. Microsoft have been great in replacing broken ones, but we shouldnt have to do that (ask Orrah). If you get a newer 360 which are more reliable, and keep it cool, then you're laughing. More games (some shite but you will get that) but it has the games which I personally would not be able to live without. I can't turn away from Gears of War, it's that amazing. Forza is an uncannily fantastic play, loads and loads of Xbox Live games, and some dude made a game with zombies in it. It's easy as hell to use, and has features and offers and all sorts. Sadly there is a price to this amazing service, the toll of £40 a year. But believe me, it's worth every penny of it.

The 360 is clearly more game's focused and strives to do that well. It's the more amazing thing. However the PS3 dosn't sting with a charge, and does more for you. It's like a mini-PC, which you can customise and what not.

It's up to you man. And this is the best, most honest review I can give, from a person that owns and plays both consoles equally.

thanks ax we have decided to get the wii (kidding) we will be getting the elite becuse of one simple thing we prefer the 360 controller over the ps3

Dude both are good choices, and you'll enjoy regardless of which you'd have picked.

Blokey, however, dosn't just enjoy his PS3. He physically makes love to it on a nightly basis, in the form of waxing it's shiny black body, and rubbing his finger and tickling it's optical drive, and licking the analog sticks on the controllers.

All the above is true, I have video evidence. He even has a dartboard with a picture of the 360 on it :lol:

Only thing about 360 really is the library of games. Even though I'm not overly hyped like most people about "Overly gritty realistic looking generic brown shooter 2", there are quite a few great games on the 360 and some more to come.
I'm also sticking to the 'box on this one because of Rareware. I gotta agree with anyone saying their work has slipped up a bit over the years, but I'm sure with a bit of fine tuning they can get back into quality games. I hear Viva Pinata was good, but they need their Banjo platforming back IMHO.
I gotta say though, the PS3 slim and that price drop is a very tempting purchase though.
Right off the bat I'm going to say that I'm not comparing the systems by all the extra features. All the blu-ray, HD-DVD, Netflix, etc. I'm not very interested in. I would list about the pros and cons, but that's like beating a dead horse with another dead horse because they've been outlined countless times before.

If seriously needed, I'll state further points on the argument seeing as I didn't really explain much here :\

I have a 360 and I fanyboyed over it for a year.( I know you all know that) Once my Xbox started to do the RROD series I got mad and hardly play it now because the antique might break. God forbid you have an Xbox for over a year. I have started to slip away from my Xbox and looking into the light of the PS3. I play it at my friends house and it is amazing. I am also stoked that they lowered the price and brought out the slim. I was waiting for a remake for a while. Now that MAG is out and other good games, I want a PS3. I am also going to need a PS3 so I can play final fantasy 13 and 14 when they come out. I know final fantasy 13 is going on the 360 but it would not be the same if I did not play it on a playstation.

I voted for PS3. It is more worth to get than a 360 if you are going to play $300 bucks for a system.

This year Sony have pulled out all the stops and there is now no reason not to own one, other than being poor. Or gay. Or French.
