We, meaning Waka, Joey, Caleb, and myself.

Waka pushed the idea of a podcast with the four of us a while ago, and after months of saying 'We should do that', we finally got around to doing that.
We're still working out different ways to go about it, as well as scheduling, but we're gonna try and shoot for every 2 - 3 weeks. We've also got a website slowly going up for it right here (Thanks Waka! He also edited the podcast, thanks a million <3) HERE BE SECRETSThey still want people to put in trial codes to get in, it takes like two seconds. It'll get fixed within the next few days, probably.

As it says there, the first episode is just sort of a small look at stuff that happened over the past year or so, and it runs for around an hour and a half. After that we'll probably just talk about more current events. We ended up calling the podcast Hot KoCode (Konami Code, because puns) by the Fire, so it's got a small tie to the forums with the name as well (the forums get mentioned a bunch, as you'd imagine).

So what do you guys think of it? Good? Bad? Any suggestions?
If anything, it can generate a little bit more traffic if it catches on (even if just a little bit).

Just updated the URL, we can now be found here for now. Check us out! Our first episode's up now, and we also have an RSS feed for subscribing: http://hotkocode.squarespace.com/podcast?format=rss - we're hoping to show up on iTunes within the next couple of days, but in the meantime, going to File -> "Subscribe to Podcast..." and entering http://hotkocode.squarespace.com/podcast?format=rss should do the trick.

Let us know what you guys think :)

Finally getting a listen, as I've been up since 3.49am with this cold and I have some time to kill before I need to get ready for work.

I'll make notes as I go along. :)

1. PS4 has the Playroom which utilises the camera, which you can check videos out here (intro) and here (IGN gameplay). It's completely optional, and while I don't have a camera, Dobbo does, and he says it's absolutely tits. I'll definitely getting a camera soon, so more from me... later, I guess. Also, yes, in the intro video it shows you can download an app on your phone, connect to your PS4, and then "import" whatever you've drawn into the Playroom. Pretty neat.

2. Aliens: Colonial Marines isn't by any stretch of the imagination a bad game, but it certainly isn't good. And I never really got the whole "this looks nothing like the tech demo" bullshit, because what game ever does look like it's tech demo? How often do you see the disclaimer "This is a tech demo, not representative of full game"? The differences were mainly graphical, and anyone who says graphics are more important than gameplay is a tool. That said, the gameplay isn't stellar, but hey, I'll always compare it to the original AvP on PC, which is still godlike to this day.

3. Borderlands GOTY would be my choice too, but then again, I hated Borderlands, and the ending of the first one made me rage so hard that I refused to try the DLC. Seriously. Fuck that copout.

4. Google Plus, eh? Lemme just pause the podcast here as I don't wanna miss anything... :D Okay, so, G+ is as you say a desolate wasteland at the moment, populated by only a few people. However, what I have found, right from the start, is that FB is for keeping in touch with old friends, and G+ is for making new friends. It has an awesome "Nearby" function which allows you to see the public posts of anyone in close proximity to you, and you can scroll through and add folk if they post anything of interest. Wil Wheaton is a MAHOOSIVE G+ user, who posts more than I do, and will always take the time to talk to us "normal folk".

Don't get me wrong, it's not for everyone, and I have found that the IQ levels of the average G+ user is significantly higher than the average FB user (no-one ever posts links to stupid-ass stuff that is obviously not true, believing it to be real), but the problem I find is that people - quite rightly I guess - compare it to FB, when it's completely different.

My friends list on G+ is of people I don't have on FB, and the stuff they post is usually very informative, often nerdy (because that's the kind of thing I go looking for), it has some great communities and... I dunno, I just get less frustrated with the people on G+ than I do those on FB, who as most of you will know, I get very angry at quite often. But for the current generation of people who demand results now, and refuse to stick with something that doesn't give immediate satisfaction, G+ is a bit of a waste. Stick with it, use the "Nearby" feature, browse some of the communities, and I guarantee you'll make a whole bunch of new friends that will piss you off less than those on FB. And anyone who says "there's nothing on there" but hasn't gone around and looked for people, companies and communities to add... well, I have a lovely backhand waiting just for you. :D

An example of which, one of the guys on G+ posted something about a member of parliament here wanting to make smacking your kids illegal. Now, any parent will know that sometimes - and very rarely - your kid is gonna need a quick tap on the leg or across the arse, but not like a proper beating. On G+ this was discussed in an adult manner, with sensible arguments put across from both sides of the fence, and a good time was had by all. On FB, he got reported for child abuse, other people made poorly-written accusations at him, and then went on to link to his profile and make quite obviously incorrect and possibly libellous statements about him, and it just degenerated into a shitstorm of /b/-like proportions.

Also, the only reason I rejoined FB was to stay in touch with the guys I used to work with after I got made redundant. Just sayin'. My list of people who have added me but that I refuse to add back is approx 4x larger than my actual list of friends...

But hey, whatever floats your boat I guess. :)

Moving on...

5. Google Reader being killed was the crime of the century. Much love to the Reader.

6. Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning is fucking godlike. One of the best, most underrated games I've played, along with Sacred 2. Love it so hard.

7. Journey - been meaning to pick it up, because I also have "Flow" and "Flower", both of which are god-tier.

8. Dead Island GOTY.

9. MGR: RISING is mint as fuck. Seriously. Own it at any cost.

10. Don't need another Brawl? PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale is a good imitation, and for my money, much more fun.

11. I WANT A PICKTURE OF A PICKLE IN A LAWNCHAIR.

Fucking amazing show, guys. I'm on my second listen now, and yeah, loving it. Also, how did Waka, Ben and Joey manage to get Stephen Hawking on the show? :D
