European Release of Demon’s Souls Currently Not Planned.

If you are in the EU and interested in Demon’s Souls now might be time to pre-order your N.American copy as everybody involved seems to be saying the same thing about a European release. ‘No plans [for a release in Europe]’ is the word from all parties involved with From Software PS3 exclusive.

Sony (who published the game in Japan) are quoted as saying that;

[There are] no plans to publish [Demon's Souls] in Europe at present.

Atlus (who is publishing the game in the USA) spokesperson Aram Jabbari in a statement to Eurogamer yesterday said;

I'm not aware of any plans/publishers for bringing the game to Europe at this time. Hopefully the game continues to generate word of mouth and positive critical reception (like your great import review you folks did) and a European publisher takes notice.

Previous Atlus partner Tecmo KOEI who bought Shin Megami Tense to Europe are also saying that they have no plans to do the same with Demon’s Souls.

(Stop me if you are seeing a pattern here).

From’s last game (Ninja Blade a 360 exclusive) was published by Microsoft, so unlikely to see any help from there. Previous European publisher of From games Ubisoft are also saying that they are "not aware of any plans" to publish the game.

It is especially sad to see this happening now. While events like this used to be common place, this generation has seen a fundamental shift in most company’s ethos on these matters, especially with exclusive titles. So it is particularly surprising to see that after Demon’s Souls has made the leap from Japan to the Western market to see something like this still happen. Perhaps it’s a result of having to localise for the entirety of Europe (a reason often sited) or perhaps simple a statement about the current state of the UK economy.
